Bowen Lodge
Bowen Lodge is owned by CNIB. Its main purpose is to host summer camps for clients who are blind and partially sighted. The facility is also available for group rentals; for retreats, conferences and workshops. The site is a short 20 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay.
After analyzing the costs involved with renovating the facility, to upgrade to modern, accessible standards for clients who are blind and partially sighted, CNIB has determined this is not a viable proposition. Limitations on use of the property were also considered. We are currently listing Bowen Lodge for sale.
For the 2010 camping season, we will continue to offer rentals of the facility. For information on renting the facility, please visit the Bowen Lodge website (link opens in new window).
To all CNIB clients, campers and families, rest assured CNIB recognizes the value of camp programs for building confidence, life skills and social networking. We remain committed to continuing camp programs.
For 2010, those camps will continue at Bowen Lodge by the Sea. Any sale will be conditional on that term. For 2011 and beyond, we are pleased to have reached an agreement with Zajac Ranch to host CNIB camps. Located near Mission, Zajac Ranch is one of the finest accessible, youth camps in Canada. For more information on that facility, please visit this link http://www.zajacranch.com/ (link opens in new window).
We would like to thank all of you who have participated in camps or rented Bowen Lodge over the years and look forward to continuing to provide programs that build confidence and life skills for people who are blind and partially sighted.
