Toronto (February 11, 2011) – In partnership, CNIB, March of Dimes Canada and The Canadian Hearing Society are offering an Accessible Customer Service E-Learning course that provides businesses and organizations in Ontario the information they need to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Customer Service Standard.
The course, produced by AccessAbility Advantage and Vubiz, is the only AODA E-learning course endorsed by accessibility experts at CNIB, March of Dimes Canada and The Canadian Hearing Society. At 45 minutes in length, it provides specific advice on interacting with persons with disabilities, including physical, hearing, speech, vision, intellectual, mental health and learning disabilities. It can be customized to include brand guidelines, policies, procedures and specific content unique to each organization.
“Most organizations don’t realize that the training requirement extends to all staff who interact with people outside of their company,” said Frances Jewett of AccessAbility Advantage. “Simply put, if your organization has at least one employee with a phone on their desk, or who speaks with or emails people who don't work for your organization, you must comply.”
The course also offers full learning management services, including downloadable reports in Excel, an automated reporting system that advises which staff members have completed the course, and Certificates of Completion. It is offered in English, French, American Sign Language (ASL), la langue des signes québécoise (LSQ) and complies with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA.
