Peer Support Programs

Understanding, support, mentorship and advice. Peer Support groups give you the opportunity to connect with others who are living with sight loss.

Mindfulness Mini-Workshops: Managing Sight Loss and Charles Bonnet Syndrome

These three consecutive mini- workshop are designed to provide mindfulness tools and peer support for people adjusting to sight loss, and those who are dealing with symptoms of Charles Bonnet Syndrome. Supportive family and friends are also welcome to attend. Monday, May 27, June 3 and  June 10 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom.

Brantford Mobile Hub: CNIB Guide Dogs Information Session

Come out and join us for an informative session about CNIB Guide Dogs. Guest speaker, Tracy Garbutt, will join us via Zoom to discuss the program, the application process, and his personal experiences as a guide dog handler. Thursday, May 30 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Brantford Public Library.

Brantford Mobile Hub: Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC) Information Session

Have you heard of  Vision Loss Rehabilitation Ontario (VLR)? Don't know if you should be registered with the organization, or how to? Come and join us for coffee and snacks as you learn about the programs and services offered by VLRC. Thursday, May 30 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at the Brantford Public Library.

Adjustment to Vision Loss – June 2024

Adjustment to Vision Loss Intro program is for people who are new to sight loss and are seeking a supportive and safe environment for discussion with peers in similar situations. This program is led by facilitators with lived experience of sight loss. This peer support group meets four consecutive Wednesdays (June 5 to June 26) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom. A commitment to the four week series is required as this is not a drop in program.

Biblical Peer Support Group

A time for sharing, communion, prayer and praise. Make new friends, deepen existing friendships, find support from your peers. This program is an extension of the Bible Study. The Biblical Peers Support Group meets four times over the summer months from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Central Time on Zoom. Dates TBC.
