CNIB International Youth Internship Program

Main Content

Working with Global Affairs Canada, CNIB is providing in-person and remote international internships for persons who identify as living with disability aged 18-30. Internships will span 12 weeks comprising of three weeks of predeparture onboarding and training, eight weeks of international or remote placement at disability-serving organizations in one of the four collaborating Caribbean countries (Jamaica, Guyana, St. Lucia, Antigua & Barbuda), followed by one week of concluding activities (reflection and debriefing).

What are International Global Development Internships?

Global development international internships are an opportunity to work abroad to support inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility in a foreign country. Internships are an excellent way to gain real-world work experience, develop skills in your field of interest and build your resume to market yourself for future career opportunities.

What Are Interns’ Responsibilities?

Internship responsibilities will differ depending on the organization that interns are placed at. With that said, interns can expect to engage in the following duties throughout 35 hours of internship hours per week:

  • Support host organization through assigned daily responsibilities and duties
  • Engage in disability-inclusive international development and research activities, as assigned by preceptors
  • Manage a project designated by the host organization. This may include research, business administration, human resources, marketing, communications, program creation and management, and more
